8Prior to being put into operation, the apparatus shall be checked inaccordance with the instructions as per section 6.The national safety rules and regulations for the prevention ofaccidents, as well as the safety instructions included in theseoperating instructions, that, like this text, are set in italics, shall beobserved!3 Conformity with standardsThey are conform to the standards specified in the attestation ofconformity, enclosed separately.References to standards and directives in these operating instructionsalways relate to the latest version. Other additions (e.g. details relating tothe year) shall be observed.4 Field of applicationFully certified empty enclosures that have been tested by a testingauthority or authorized person are suited for use in hazardous areas inZone 1, 2 and Zone 21, 22 in accordance with IEC/EN60079-10-1 andIEC/EN60079-10-2.The enclosure materials used, including any external metal parts, are highquality materials which ensure a corrosion protection and resistance tochemical substances corresponding to the requirements in a “normalindustrial atmosphere”:- GRPIn case of use in an extremely aggressive atmosphere, you can obtaininformation concerning the chemical resistance of the materials usedfrom your Cooper Crouse-Hinds branch.5 Application / PropertiesThe empty enclosures GBXE have been fully certified by a testing station/authorized individual after inspection are used, within the limitations ofthe permissible power loss, to distribute electrical energy, e.g. for lighting, heating and control circuits, etc..Service temperature see technical data. The empty enclosure GBXE may be used for fitting electrical andmechanical components. The empty enclosure GBXE consists of high-quality Glass ReinforcedPolyester with graphite added . Lid and base are screwed together withstainless steel captive screws.A groove and tongue system with inserted sealing cord between the lidand base assures the high protection class (see technical data).Applications other than those described are not permittedwithout Cooper Crouse-Hinds’s / EATON prior written consent. The user alone is responsible for the appropriate use of thisempty enclosure GBXE in consideration of the basic conditions exist-ing at the plant (see technical data). The instructions stated in section 7 of the operating instructionsshall be observed during operation. The product is protected by patents. For more information, please contactyour local EATON / Cooper Crouse-Hinds GmbH representative.6 InstallationFor the mounting and operation, the respective national regulations aswell as the general rules of engineering will have to be observed(IEC/EN 60079-14).The enclosure is mounted through the screw channels lying outside thesealing space. When processing the enclosures, attention must be paid toensuring that there is suitable minimum spacing between individualboreholes and from the sealing edge of the enclosure so that theenclosure with the fittings will be able to withstand an impact test. The minimum spacing depends on the geometrical dimensions of thebuilt-in components; a longer lever will require an increase in theminimum spacing and accordingly must be determined specifically. In the case of enclosures that have to be set up outside, it may benecessary to take measures to ensure that operation is in accordancewith the intended use. This would include, for example, roofs asprotection against rain or outer housings with an adequate protectionclass.Enclosures shall be mounted horizontally over the wall or on thehorizontal surfaces. The chosen screw shall match the fastening hole (see dimensionaldrawing) and it must not damage the hole (e. g. use of a washer). If the screws are overtightened, the apparatus can be damaged.6.1 Electrical connectionThe electrical connection may only be carried out by skilledstaff accordance to IEC/EN 600479-14.Explosion-protected empty enclosure GBXE GB
