INSTALLATIONNOTEThe FSQ Series enclosure should be installed, inspected, operated, and maintained by qualified and competent personnel.WARNINGTo avoid electrical shock hazard, electrical power must be turned OFFbefore and during installation and maintenance.1. Select a mounting location that will provide suitable strength andrigidity for supporting the enclosure and contained wiring.2. Position receptacle facing downward and securely fasten enclosureto the mounting surface and attach into conduit system.WARNINGConduit sealings for Group B installations are required within 1”(30A), 18” (60A), of each conduit entry and conduit size is not toexceed 1” (30A), 1½” (60A).For Group C & D installations, sealing fittings are required within 18”(30A or 60A) of each conduit entry per the National Electrical Code501.15 (A) and 502.15.Figure 1 - Dimensions3. With enclosed switch in OFF position, turn cover locking screwclockwise (inward). Cover locking screw is accessible through holelocated in lower edge of cover. See figure 1. Unscrew and removecover.Note: Turning cover locking screw clockwise (inward) engages a groovein the receptacle interior, preventing its rotation. This added safetyfeature prevents the enclosed switch from being operated by the plugwhen the cover is removed.4. Establish a wiring pattern for your system.WARNINGBefore installing an FSQ Series receptacle, a wiring patternmust be established for your system. Locations having differentvoltages, frequencies or types of current (AC or DC) must not haveinterchangeable attachment plugs per the National Electrical Code. For each system the same colored wire must be put into the samenumbered contact on all plugs and receptacles in that system. Thiswill assure correct system polarity and eliminate the possibility ofequipment damage and/or personal injury due to mis-phasing orshorts. Always test before energizing. The FSQ is suitable for use on circuits capable of delivering 10,000 amps(RMS symmetrical) when protected by 40A (WSQ 30 amp) or 80A (WSQ60 amp) Class J fuses.FSQ Series receptacles are polarized so plug enters receptacle only oneway. This provides for proper polarity of conductors through plug andreceptacle.Note: Receptacles identified with the addition of Suffix S4 to catalognumber are supplied with receptacle contacts rotated 22-1/2 degrees forspecial polarity application. They are compatible only with plugs built withthe same special feature.Contacts in the receptacle insulating body are identified by number.Corresponding plug contacts must always mate with those in receptacleidentified by the same contact number.IF 1363 • 12/13 Copyright © 2013 Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Business Page 1FSQ SERIES 30 AND 60 AMP INTERLOCKEDRECEPTACLE AND SWITCHInstallation & Maintenance InformationSAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCEIF 1363APPLICATIONFSQ Series dead front interlocked receptacles and switches aredesigned to provide connection and distribution of secondary electricalpower (600 volts or less) between a power source and portable orstationary electrical equipment. The plug must be fullyinserted in the receptacle and rotated clockwise to manually operate theenclosed switch, closing the circuit to the receptacle. The FSQ Seriesreceptacle meets OSHA lockout/tagout requirements.FSQ Series receptacles are suitable for use in Class I, Division 1 and 2,Groups B, C and D; Class II, Division 1 and 2, Groups F and G and ClassIII hazardous (classified) areas as defined by the National ElectricalCode®.
