Especially when the single-phase cur-rent is low, without the APM it may appear asif the trip unit does not respond until the cur-rent is well above the set value, leading thetester to believe there is an error in the tripunit when there is none. The reason this oc-curs is that the single-phase test current is nota good simulation of the normal three-phasecircuit. If three-phase had been flowing, thetrip unit would have performed correctly. Usethe APM for correct trip unit performancewhen single-phase tests are made.www . ElectricalPartManuals . com
