For battery cabinets with a battery connector on the rear panel,unplug the connector between the battery cabinet(s) and the UPS.NOTE Be sure to reconnect this connector before you restart the UPS.For battery cabinets without a battery connector, turn the DCswitch to the OFF position.NOTE The DC switch MUST be turned off to ensure that the batteries will not discharge. The DC switch is located under the hinged panel on the top ofthe battery cabinet. Remove the bolts that hold the front of thebattery cabinet to the rack. Pull the battery cabinet out slightly;unscrew the panel screw and lift open the hinged panel. Turn offthe DC switch. Close and secure the top panel. Slide the battery cabinet back inthe rack. Reinstall the bolts to secure the battery cabinet to thefront of the rack.5. If the UPS is turned off for an extended period of time, rechargethe batteries every 90–120 days to prevent battery damage.To restart the UPS, see “UPS Startup” on page 17.Extended Power OutagesIf the power is out for an extended time, the UPS continues to providepower for your equipment until it gets near the end of its run time. Youcan check the remaining battery run time by reading parameter 9 (seepage 35).At a preset number of minutes before the end of the run time(factory-default setting is five minutes), the UPS sounds a Low Runtimealarm (- ). Shut down your equipment and turn off the UPS toconserve the remaining battery power (see “UPS Shutdown” onpage 37). When AC input power returns, turn on the UPS to rechargethe batteries.If your UPS shuts itself down because its battery voltage is too low, shutdown the UPS until the AC input power returns (see “UPS Shutdown”on page 37).
