FS10 SeriesFluid Components International LLC 25FS10 Button Controls – Alternate Setup MethodIt is recommended the unit be powered-up for 10-15 minutes before making changes to any of the flow settings. Refer to Table 7 for alternate setup.General Control DescriptionThe FS10 control functions can be accessed through the two buttons by:1. Entering “Function Selection”2. Selecting the desired function to adjust3. Adjusting the function control4. Exiting to normal operation1. To Enter “Function Selection” mode:a. Press and hold both buttons down for 3 secondsb. When “function selection” is entered, all the LEDs will flash “on”, thenc. The first function (LED # 1) will be illuminated2. “Function Selection” mode:Once the unit is in “function selection” mode, the buttons take on new controls:• Use the (–) and (+) buttons to step (increment down or up respectively) through the different functions. The current function number isindicated by the LED(s) blinking at the slow rate.• Holding either the (+) or (–) for 3 seconds selects the current function to be adjusted.3. When a function has been selected for adjustment:After selecting the desired function by pushing and holding either the (–) or (+) button for 3 seconds the LEDs flash at a faster rate. The LEDpattern reflects either the current value of the parameter being adjusted, or the “ready to capture” pattern for parameters to be captured (seespecific function descriptions for details). The buttons, therefore, will either increment or decrement the function parameter, or capture a valuefor the corresponding parameter.4. To exit out of the current function, push and hold both buttons down for 3 seconds. The LEDs indicate that you are once again in “function selec-tion” mode, and the current mode is incremented to the next function. To exit completely (into operational mode), press the twobuttons simultaneously for 3 seconds once again.Note: Function #4 (load a bank) and function #15 (save to a bank), requires holding either button for 3 seconds to load or save.Holding both buttons exits either function without performing the operation.Note: If using the 4-20 mA output, create a zero offset to significantly improve the linearization of that output; i.e., instead of scalingbetween 0 and 10 SCFH (0 to 5000 cc/min), establish the zero and span from 1 to 10 SCFH (500 to 5000 cc/min). This methodyields a more accurate representation of the switch point, set at 30% (or 70%) of the span by default.liquid applicationsTo optimize the performance of the FS10 in liquids, it is critical to establish a stable zero setting under a packed line condition. It is recom-mended that the FS10 be operating and allowed to come to equilibrium with a downstream valve closed and the line completely filled withthe process fluid and no flow. At this point, enter into QSM 2 (capture/exit)—the FS10 immediately captures this low flow signal. Thenslowly open the downstream valve to allow flow up to the maximum span desired. Momentarily press the appropriate fail-safe button tosave parameters and return to normal operating mode with the newly scaled operating range established. In some cases the high liquid flow signal will saturate before reaching the high flow that is simulated. The FS10 will save the highest valueit is capable of sensing in that application and use it as the high end limit.switch pointBy factory default, the switch point is set to 30% (fail-safe low) or 70% (fail-safe high) of the established span when exiting the QuickSetup Mode. This may be adjusted in 5% increments in the field within 5 seconds of exiting per above instructions. Alternatively, theQSM factory switch point default of 30% (or 70%) of span can be changed using the PC interface program before entering into the QSM.Selecting the factory setup option at time of order by completing the Application Data Sheet (ADS) also sets up a custom default value atthe factory. Note that this value is always a percentage of the established span and alters any previous switch point that may have beenattained on a previous setup. The 4-20 mA output and relay trip continues to operate at the previously set range while in the Quick Setup Mode.
