14About the ice and water dispenser. (on some models)To Use the DispenserSelect CUBED ICE , CRUSHED ICEor WATER .Press the glass gently against the topof the dispenser cradle.The spill shelf is not self-draining.To reduce water spotting, the shelfand its grille should be cleaned regularly.If no water is dispensed when therefrigerator is first installed, there may beair in the water line system. Press thedispenser arm for at least two minutes toremove trapped air from the water line andto fill the water system. To flush outimpurities in the water line, throw away thefirst six glassfuls of water.CAUTION: Never put fingers or any otherobjects into the ice crusher dischargeopening.Locking the DispenserPress the LOCK padfor 3 seconds to lockthe dispenser and controlpanel.To unlock, pressand hold the padagain for 3 seconds.Dispenser LightThis pad turns the night lightin the dispenser on and off.The light also comes onwhen the dispenser cradle ispressed. For models with abulb, if the light burns out, itshould be replaced with a 6watt 12V maximum bulb.For LED models, contactFactory Service.Quick Ice (on some models)When you need icein a hurry, press thispad to speed up iceproduction. This will increaseice production for thefollowing48 hours or until you pressthe pad again.Door Alarm (on somemodels)To set the alarm,press this pad until theindicator light comes on.This alarm will sound ifeither dooris open for more than 3minutes. The light goes outand the beeping stops whenyou close the door.Spill ShelfImportant Facts About Your Dispenser Do not add ice from trays or bags tothe storage drawer. It may not crush ordispense well. Avoid overfilling glass with ice and useof narrow glasses. Backed-up ice can jamthe chute or cause the door in the chute tofreeze shut. If ice is blocking the chute,poke it through with a wooden spoon. Beverages and foods should not bequick-chilled in the ice storage drawer.Cans, bottles or food packages in thestorage drawer may cause the icemakeror auger to jam. To keep dispensed ice from missingthe glass, put the glass close to, but nottouching, the dispenser opening. Some crushed ice may be dispensed eventhough you selected CUBED ICE. Thishappens occasionally when a few cubesaccidentally get directed to the crusher. After crushed ice is dispensed, some watermay drip from the chute. Sometimes a small mound of snow willform on the door in the ice chute. Thiscondition is normal and usually occurswhen you have dispensed crushed icerepeatedly. The snow will eventuallyevaporate.
