Caring for the dishwasher.Spray Arms and FiltersThe dishwasher will flush away allnormal food soils. However, objects (fruitpits, bones, etc.) may collect in openingsand should be removed occasionally toavoid clogging the drain system.ii, CAUTION: Personalinjurg hazard. Before cleaning theinterior, wait at least 20 minutes aftera cgde for the heating element tocool down. Failure to do so couldresult in burn injuries.Cleaning the Spray ArmsBecause hard water chemicals willclog the spray arm jets and bearings,it is necessary to clean the spray armsregularly. To remove the spray arm, twistthe retaining nut 90 degrees and pull thespray arm off the shaft.Wash the arms in soapy, warm water anduse a soft brush to clean the jets. Replacethem after rinsing thoroughly.:;===========- _tainingUpper rack Retaining nutCleaning the FiltersFor best performance and results, thefilter assembly must be cleaned regularly.The filter efficiently removes food particlesfrom the wash water, allowing water tobe recirculated during the cycle. For thisreason, it is a good idea to remove thelarge food particles trapped in the filterfrequently by rinsing the main filter andcup under running water. To remove thefilter assembly, pull up on the cup handle.The entire filter assembly should becleaned at least once a month. To cleanthe main filter and fine filter, use a cleaningbrush. Then, reassemble the filter partsas shown in the illustration and reinsertthe entire assembly in the dishwasher,positioning it in place and pressingdownward. The dishwasher mustnever be used without the filters.Improper replacement of the filtermay reduce the performance levelof the appliance and may damagedishes and utensils.Main filterProtect Against FreezingIf your dishwasher is left in an unheatedplace during the winter, ask a servicetechnician to:I-_1 Cut off electrical power to thedishwasher. Removefuses or tripcircuit breaker.I-_1 Turn off the water supply and disconnectthe water inlet line from the water valve.F_-I Drain water from the water inlet lineand water valve.
