ge.comProper Use of DetergentUse only detergent specifically made for usein dishwashers. Cascade ®and Electrasol ®Automatic Dishwashing Detergents have beenapproved for use in all GE dishwashers. Keepyour detergent fresh and dry. Don't put powderdetergent into the dispenser until you're readyto wash dishes.The amount of detergent to use depends onwhether your water is hard or soft. With hardwater, you need extra detergent. With soft water,you need less detergent.Protect your dishes and dishwasher bycontacting your water department and askinghow hard your water is. Twelve or more grainsis extremely hard water. A water softener isrecommended. Without it, lime can build upin the water valve, which could stick while openand cause flooding.
