22Burnerremoval(on some models)Ensure the gas supply is off, the knobs are in theOFF position and all surfaces are cool beforeremoving a burner.The grill and range-top burners are cast ironcoated with porcelain enamel. Occasionallyit will be necessary to remove surface rust toensure proper performance. Frequency ofcleaning will depend on the climate andlocation and how often you use the cookingcenter. The walls of the burners are thick sothey can withstand many years of use.To remove the grill burner(s), remove the grillrack(s), then lift out the stainless steel radianttray(s) with the lava rocks or ceramic briquettesstill on it. Remove wire shipping ties if present.Grasp the burner, pull it up and slightly to therear of the unit so the burner head comes offthe brass orifice at the front. Angle the burnersideways and remove.(24″ models have twogrill burners.)To remove the range-top burners (on somemodels), remove the top grates. Lift outaeration pan from around the burners. Lift andremove the front and rear range-top burners.The smoker burner (on some models) can beremoved and cleaned by unplugging the igniterwire and lifting out the burner.To reassemble the burners, replace the burnerby sliding the air shutters over the brass orifice,centering it in the hole. It is extremely importantto center the burner on the orifice properly.Be careful not to upset the air shutters’ originalposition (unless readjusting). Lower the rearof the burner into the cutouts on the supportchannel and make sure the locating hole in theburner end is seated over the pin in the burnerbox. Make sure all burners are level and donot rock.On 24″ models, to double check if the twoburners are properly seated over the brassorifices, you can visually inspect them.1. Remove the two outer control knobs.2. Remove the two screws underneath thecontrol knobs and the two screws underneaththe control panel.3. Rotate the control panel forward. (Do notremove it.)4. Shine a flashlight in the gap to make sure theburners are over the brass orifices. (On24″ models the stainless steel radiant trays sitlevel on the side supports.) Make sure that itsits level and does not rock.Light all of the burners and check for properflame characteristics. (Do not attempt to lightthe burners prior to replacing radiant trays,grills and aeration pans.)
