Using the ovens. To avoid possible burns, place the racks in the desired position before you turn the oven on.The oven has 3 shelf positions. It also has a special low shelfposition (R)for extra large items, such as a large turkey. Before you begin...The racks have stop-locks, so that when placedcorrectly on the rack supports (A through C),they will stop before coming completely out,and will not tilt. When placing and removing cookware, pull therack out to the bump on the rack support.I kCAUTlON Iwhenyouareusinga rack in the lowest position (R),you willneed to use caution when pulling the rackout. We recommend that you pull the rackout several inches and then, using two potholders, pull the rack out by holding thesides of it. The rack is low and you can beburned if you put your hand in the middle ofthe rack and pull all the way out. Be carefulnot to burn your hand on the door whenusing the rack in the lowest position (R).To remove a rack, pull it toward you, tilt thefront end up and pull it out.To replace, place the end of the rack (stop-locks)on the support, tilt up the front and pushthe rack in.NOTE:The rack is not designed to slide out atthe special low rock (R)position.Plastic items on the cooktop maymelt if left too close to the vent.Vent appearance and location vary.Upper Oven VentYour oven is vented through ducts at the rearof the range. Do not block these ducts whencooking in the oven-it is important that theflow of hot air from the oven and fresh airto the oven burner be uninterrupted. Avoidtouching the vent openings or nearby surfacesduring oven or broiler operation-they maybecome hot.Handles of pots and pans on the cooktopmay become hot if left too close to the vent.Do not leave plastic or flammable items onthe cooktop-they may melt or ignite if lefttoo close to the vent.Do not leave closed containers on thecooktop. The pressure in closed containersmay increase, which may cause themto burst.Metal items will become very hot if they areleft on the cooktop, and could cause burns.Power OutageThe oven or broiler cannot be lit during a powerfailure. Gas will not flow unless the glow bar ishot. If the oven is in use when a power failureoccurs, the oven burner shuts off and cannotbe re-lit until power is restored. This is becausethe flow of gas is automatically stoppedand will not resume when power is restoreduntil the glow bar has reached operatingtemperature.Upper Oven LightTouch the Oven Light pad on the upper controlpanel to turn the light on or off.10
