Keep this book handy where you can refer to it,especially during the first weeks of using your new range.-. . . - . . .Wlectrlc lgnltlonThe oven burner and broil burner are lighted byelectric ignition.To light either burner, press the pad for the desiredfunction then press the INCREASE or DECREASEpad until the desired temperature is displayed. Theburner should ignite within 30-90 seconds.After the oven reaches the selected temperature, theoven burner cycles+ff completely, then on with afull flame-to keep the oven temperature controlled.Power OutageCAUTION: DO NOT MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TOOPERATE THE ELECTRIC IGNITION OVENDURING AN ELECTRICAL POWER FAILURE.The oven or broiler cannot be lit during a powerfailure. Gas will not flow unless the glow bar is hot.If the oven is in use when a power failure occurs,the oven burner shuts off and cannot be re-lit untilpower is restored.Oven ShelvesThe shelves aredesigned with stop-locks so when placedcorrectly on the shelfsuppor~, they will stopbefore comingcompletely out of theoven and will not tiltwhen you are removingfood from them orplacing food on them.When placing cookware on a shelf, pull the shelf outto the “stop” position. Place the cookware on theshelf, then slide the shelf back into the oven. This willeliminate reaching intothe hot oven.To remove a shelf fromthe oven, pull it towardyou, tilt the front endupward and pull theshelf out.To replace, place the Y Illshelf on the shelfsupport with the stop-locks (curved extension of theshel~ facing up and toward the rear of the oven. Tiltup the front and push the shelf toward the back of theoven until it goes past “stop” on the oven wall.Then lower the front of the shelf and push it allthe way back.Shelf PositionsThe oven has five shelfsupports for normalbaking and roastingidentified in thisillustration as A(bottom), B, C, D andE (top). It also has aspecial low shelfposition (R) for roastingextra large items, suchas a large turkey—theshelf is-not designed toslide out at this position.Shelf positions for cookingare suggested on Bakingand Roasting pages.12
