IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION.READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING.iA WARNING i COOKTOPSAFETYINSTRUCTIONSi Never leave the surface units unattended at medium or ihigh heat settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasyspillovers that may catch on fire.Never leave oil unattended while frying. If allowed toheat beyond its smoking point, oil may ignite, resultingin fire that may spread to surrounding cabinets. Use adeep fat thermometer whenever possible to monitor oiltemperature.i To avoid oil spillover and fire, use a minimum amount ofoil when shallow pan-frying and avoid cooking frozenfoods with excessive amounts of ice.Use proper pan size--select cookware having flatbottoms large enough to cover the surface heatingelement. The use of undersized cookware will exposea portion of the surface unit to direct contact and mayresult in ignition of clothing. Proper relationship ofcookware to surface unit will also improve efficiency.Only certain types of glass,glass/ceramic, earthenwareor other glazed containers are suitable for cooktopservice; others may break because of the suddenchange in temperature.To minimize the possibility of burns, ignition offlammable materials and spillage, the handle of acontainer should be turned toward the center of therange without extending over nearby surface units.When preparing flaming foods under a hood, turn thefan on.If power is lost to an electric cooktop while a surfaceunit is ON, the surface unit will turn back ON as soonas power is restored. In the event of power loss, failureto turn all surface unit knobs to the OFF position mayresult in ignition of items on or near the cooktop leadingto serious injury or death.[A WARNING JRADIANT COOKTOP SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS(some models)i Use care when touching the cooktop. The glass surfaceof the cooktop will retain heat after the controls havebeen turned off.Do not cook on a broken cooktop. If glass cooktopshould break, cleaning solutions and spilloversmay penetrate the broken cooktop and create arisk of electric shock. Contact a qualified technicianimmediately.i Avoid scratching the glass cooktop. The cooktop can bescratched with items such as knives, sharp instruments,rings or other jewelry and rivets on clothing.Do not place or store items that can melt or catch fireon the glass cooktop, even when it is not being used. Ifthe cooktop is inadvertently turned on, they may ignite.Heat from the cooktop or oven vent after it is turned offmay cause them to ignite also.Use CERAMABRYTE® ceramic Cooktop CleanerandCERAHABRYTE® Cleaning Padto clean the cooktop.Wait until the cooktop cools and the indicator lightgoes out before cleaning.A wet sponge or cloth on ahot surface can cause steam burns. Some cleanerscan produce noxious fumes if applied to a hot surface.NOTE:Sugar spillsare an exception. They should bescraped off while still hot using an oven mitt and ascraper. Seethe Cleaning the glass cooktop section fordetailed instructions.Read and follow all instructions and warnings on thecleaning cream label.[A WARNING ! COIL COOKTOP SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS(some models)i Do not immerse or soak the removable surface units.Do not put them in a dishwasher. Do not self-clean thesurface units in an oven. Doing so may cause them tofail, presenting a burn or fire hazard.To avoid the possibility of a burn or electric shock, alwaysbe certain that the controls for all surface units are at theOFF position and all coils are cool before attempting to lift4 or remove a coil surface unit.i Be sure the drip pans are not covered and are in place.Their absence during cooking could damage rangeparts and wiring.i Do not use aluminum foil to line drip pans. Foil can trapheat or melt, resulting in damage to the product and ashock or fire hazard. |
