The best time to clean the grill grates isimmediately after cooking is completed andafter turning off the flame. Wear a barbequemitt to protect your hand from the heat andsteam. Dip a brass bristle barbeque brush incold tap water and scrub the hot grate. Dipthe brush frequently in the bowl of water. Steam,created as water contacts the hot grill, assiststhe cleaning process by softening any foodparticles. The food particles should fall into thedrip tray. If the grill is allowed to cool beforecleaning, cleaning will be more difficult.For harder baked-on food particles, remove thegrill grate and soak for about one hour in warmwater.
