Donot install the range over carpeting unless asheet of 1/4" thick plywood or similar insulatoris placed between the range and carpeting.Make sure the wall coverings around therange can withstand heat generated bgthe range up to 200°F.Avoid placing cabinets above the range. Toreduce the hazard caused bg reaching overthe open flames of operating burners, install aventilation hood over the range that projectsforward at least 5" begond the front of thecabinets._:,The ventilating hood must be constructedof sheet metal not less than 0.0122" thick.Install above the cooktop with a clearance ofnot less than 1/4" between the hood and theunderside of the combustible material or metalcabinet. The hood must be at least as wideas the appliance and centered over theappliance.
