12Operating Instructions Safety InstructionsConsumer Support Troubleshooting TipsUsing the dryer.Care and Cleaning of the DryerDryer Interior and Duct: The interior ofthe appliance and exhaust duct should becleaned once a year by qualified servicepersonnel.The Exterior: Wipe or dust any spills orwashing compounds with a damp cloth.Dryer control panel and finishes may bedamaged by some laundry pretreatmentsoil and stain remover products. Applythese products away from the dryer. Thefabric may then be washed and driednormally. Damage to your dryer causedby these products is not covered by yourwarranty.Do not touch the surface or the displaywith sharp objects.The Lint Filter: Clean the lint filter beforeeach use. Remove by pulling straight up.Run your fingers across the filter. A waxybuildup may form on the lint filter fromusing dryer-added fabric softener sheets.To remove this buildup, wash the lintscreen in warm, soapy water. Drythoroughly and replace. Do not operatethe dryer without the lint filter in place.Vacuum the lint from the dryer lintfilter if you notice a change in dryerperformance.Stainless Steel: To clean stainless steelsurfaces, use a damp cloth with a mild,nonabrasive cleaner suitable for stainlesssteel surfaces. Remove the cleanerresidue, and then dry with a clean cloth.The stainless steel used to makethe dryer drum provides the highestreliability available in a GE dryer. Ifthe dryer drum should be scratched ordented during normal use, the drumwill not rust or corrode. These surfaceblemishes will not affect the functionor durability of the drum.The Exhaust Hood: Check with a mirrorthat the inside flaps of the hood movefreely when operating. Try also to sort itemsaccording to size. For example, do not drya sheet with socks or other small items.Do not add fabric softener sheets oncethe load has become warm. They maycause fabric softener stains. Bounce®Fabric Conditioner Dryer Sheets havebeen approved for use in this dryer whenused in accordance with the manufacturer’sinstructions.See below for lint filter cleaning instructions.Do not overload. This wastes energy andcauses wrinkling.Do not dry the following items: fiberglassitems, woolens, rubber-coated items, plastics,items with plastic trim and foam-filled items.Fabric Care LabelsBelow are fabric care label “symbols” thataffect the clothing you will be laundering.
