Rino ® 130 Owner’s Manual 83U NIT OPERATION > SETUP PAGESMap Datum—Offers a selection of nearly all mapdatums in common use. Every map is based on a mapdatum (a reference model of the earth’s shape) and isusually listed in the title block of the map. If you arecomparing GPS coordinates to a paper map, chart, orother reference, the map datum in this field must matchthe horizontal map datum used to generate the map orother reference. The default datum is WGS-84 (WorldGeodetic Survey 1984) and should only be changed whenusing maps or charts specifying a different datum. If amap does specify a datum, use the options list to finddatums applicable to the region of the map, selecting theone that provides the best positioning at a known point. If necessary, you also may choose the User datum forcustom designed grids.NOTE: The User datum is based on a WGS-84-Lo-cal datum and is an advanced feature for unlistedor custom datums.
