Using this method, up to 200 feetof altitude change can be commanded. To change the AltitudeReference by more the 200 feet, use the CWS button (if equipped) asdescribed below, or climb/descend using another vertical mode (PIT,VS) to capture the desired Selected Altitude.• If the aircraft is equipped with a CWS Button, pressing the CWS Buttonallows the aircraft to be hand-flown to a new Altitude Reference.When the CWS Button is released at the desired altitude, the newaltitude is established as the Altitude Reference.Altitude Hold ModeAltitude HoldMode Active AltitudeReferenceVERTICAL SPEED MODE (VS)In Vertical Speed Mode, the flight director acquires and maintains a Vertical SpeedReference. Current aircraft vertical speed (to the nearest 100 fpm) becomes the VerticalSpeed Reference at the moment of Vertical Speed Mode activation. This mode may beused for climb or descent to the Selected Altitude (shown above the Altimeter) sinceSelected Altitude Capture Mode is automatically armed when Vertical Speed Mode isselected.When Vertical Speed Mode is activated by pressing the VS Key (GMC control unit)or touching VS, ‘VS’ is annunciated in green in the Autopilot Status Box along withthe Vertical Speed Reference. The Vertical Speed Reference is also displayed above theVertical Speed Indicator. A Vertical Speed Reference Bug corresponding to the VerticalSpeed Reference is shown on the indicator.
