16Part Two: Section 2XM WeatherXM Weather Label and NEXRAD SourceU.S.XM Weather Label and NEXRAD SourceCanadaNOTE: The only weather product available for Canadais Canadian NEXRAD.NEXRAD LimitationsCertain limitations exist regarding the NEXRADradar displays. Some, but not all, are listed for theuser’s awareness:• NEXRAD base reflectivity does not provide suf-ficient information to determine cloud layers orprecipitation characteristics (hail vs. rain, etc).• NEXRAD base reflectivity is sampled at theminimum antenna elevation angle. An indi-vidual NEXRAD site cannot depict high altitudestorms at close ranges, and has no informationabout storms directly over the site.• Neither NEXRAD weather data nor the age ofthe NEXRAD weather data are displayed at azoom range of less than 10 NM. The resolu-tion of displayed NEXRAD data is 2 kilometers. Therefore, when zoomed in on the display, each square block is 2 kilometers. The intensitylevel reflected by the square will be the high-est level sampled within the 2 kilometer squarearea.XM Weather METARsXM Weather METARs (Meteorological AerodromeReports) are available on the XM Weather page.
