Using the Highway PageThe GPS 125 Sounder’s Highway Page also pro-vides graphic steering guidance to a destination, with agreater emphasis on the straight-line desired courseand the distance and direction you are off course. Thebearing and distance to a waypoint--along with yourcurrent track and speed--are displayed at the top of thescreen, with your digital depth, estimated time enroute(ETE), and velocity made good (VMG, or the rate youare closing in on your destination), at the bottom. As you head toward your destination, the middlesection of the screen provides visual guidance to yourwaypoint on a moving graphic “highway”.Your present position is represented by the dia-mond in the center of the course deviation scale. Theline down the middle of the highway represents yourdesired track. As you navigate toward a waypoint, thehighway will actually move and indicate the directionyou are off course, relative to the position diamond onthe CDI scale. To stay on course, simply steer towardthe center of the highway. If you do get off the desired course by more than1/5th of the selected CDI range, the distance you areoff course will be displayed where the CDI scale settingnormally appears. If you get too far off course (thehighway has disappeared), a message box will appearto indicate what course to steer to get back on course. 45In this example, theHighway Page indicatesthat you are off course to theleft. Steer right to get backon course. Notice theemphasis of the HighwayPage is on the desiredcourse.REFERENCEHighway PageIf you get too far off course,a message box will appearto indicate what course tosteer to get back on coursemost efficiently.Bearing toWaypointGraphicHighwayCDIDistance toWaypointEstimatedTime EnrouteVelocityMade GoodSpeed OverGroundTrack OverGroundDestinationWaypointDigital DepthPointer to Waypoint
