Limiting Traffic Advisories only reduces the “nuisance” alertingdue to proximate aircraft. For example, when the first Traffic Advisories appear on thedisplay, the user is alerted audibly. So long as a single aircraft remains on the display,no further audio alert is generated. If a second (or more) aircraft appears on thescreen, a new audio alert is sounded. Traffic Advisories can only be issued when theGDL 39 knows its own altitude and the altitude of the intruder aircraft.If the number of Traffic Advisories on the traffic display decreases and then increases,a new audio alert is sounded. The traffic audio alert is also generated whenever TIS-Bservice becomes available. The following traffic audio alerts are available:• “Traffic”—TIS-B/ADS-B traffic alert received.• “Traffic Not Available”—TIS-B/ADS-B service is not available or out of range.Disabling/Enabling the traffic alerts:NOTE:Traffic alerts are reset to ‘enabled’ on the next power cycle.1) From the Main Menu, touch Traffic.2) Touch Menu > Disable/Enable Alerts.Adjusting alert volume:1) From the Main Menu, touch Tools > Setup > Sound.2) Touch the TIS Audio On/Off Button to toggle the Traffic audio on/off, ortouch the Alerts Icon to mute both TIS and Terrain alerts.Or:Touch the Alerts buttons to select an alert volume (0-10).TRAFFIC WARNING WINDOWThe Traffic Warning Window is shown when the GDL 39 issues a traffic advisory (TA).The Traffic Warning Window shows a small pop-up map in the lower left corner. TheRange Rings on the pop-up alert are spaced every whole mile/kilometer/nautical mile.Touch the Traffic Warning Window to acknowledge and remove it.
