iQue 3600a Que Applications Guide 33Understanding VectorsThe Vectors window that appears at the last stepof selecting an approach determines how you willnavigate to the final waypoint in the approach. If you select Yes, the iQue 3600a creates an extensionof the final course beyond the final approach waypointin the database, called the final approach fix (FAF).The iQue 3600a provides no guidance to the inboundcourse. The course deviation needle on the graphicHSI remains off-center until you are establishedon this final approach course. QueMap displays anextension of the final approach course using a boldmagenta line. The HSI automatically slews (rotatesto show the direction) to the inbound course. On theActive Route (or Active Approach) page, a Vector toFinal symbol appears adjacent to the first approachwaypoint. If you select No on the Vectors window, the iQue3600a creates a straight-line course directly to thefirst waypoint in the approach (from wherever you arewhen you initiate the approach). This works much likeany other route with guidance from point-to-point anda turn usually required as you cross each waypoint.NOTE: Steep Turns are not allowed on an IFR(Instrument Flight Rules) approach. Follow plateor air traffic control instructions to complete theapproach without a steep turn.If air traffic controls clears your approach to anairport, loading the approach replaces your Direct Towith a route to the FAF. Load the approach only whencleared by air traffic control.ADVANCED AVIATION OPERATION > U NDERSTANDING VECTORS
