3. Put the food to be cooked on the grill plates and turn the RACLETTE heating control dial tothe required position. (See: “Hints for Best Results“)4. Turn the food with the supplied grill shovel.Do not use any hard or sharp edged objects on the grill plates!Using the Raclette FunctionWARNING: Risk of burns! Always keep in mind that the exterior of the appliance will get veryhot during operation. Especially, this holds for the grill plates. Only touch the appliance and itsparts and accessories by the dials and/or handles to avoid injuries.Handle the raclette dishes with care! Do not spill any liquids in the appliance, especially whenpreparing runny sauces. For this, do not overfill the raclette dishes.1. Ensure that the grill plates are placed properly on the bearing plate, the ribbed side facingupwards. The grill plates must not tilt or wobble.2. Select the maximum position (“+”) of the RACLETTE heating control dial (heating element ofthe grill plates) to preheat the appliance.3. During pre-heating you can fill the raclette dishes, but do not fill the raclette dishes more than3/4 to the brim with liquid to avoid spilling the contents while moving the raclette dishes. DONOT overfill the raclette dishes!WARNING: Raclette dishes and their contents could be very hot! Only touch the raclette dishesby the handles.Do not spill the contents of the raclette dishes in the appliance, especially when inserting orremoving the raclette dishes. If any liquids are spilled in the appliance, switch OFF the heatingcontrol dials, unplug and let the appliance cool down. Thereafter clean the appliance thorough-ly. (See: “Care and Cleaning“)4. After ca. 10 minutes of pre-heating, turn back the RACLETTE heating control dial to thedesired setting, and avoid spilling the contents, while inserting the raclette dishes in the upperraclette level.5. Empty raclette dishes or raclette dishes not in use can be stored in the lower raclette level.Hints for Best Results• The grill plates and raclette dishes are equipped with non-stick coatings. Just wipe the coatingwith some drops of oil before first use. Thereafter there is no need for using additional fat.• Select a low temperature to defrost and re-heat food. Use medium temperature settings tocook seafood and scallops. Use high temperature settings (maximum position of the RACLETTEheating control dial) for meat and poultry.• Season meat and fish before cooking, but add salt only belatedly, to keep your dishes juicy.• Cooking times depend on variances in ingredient thickness and special liking, but do notover cook. Most meats are better served pink and juicy, and even vegetables are better, whenstill crisp.• Do not throw the ingredients into the hot liquid in the fondue pot. Use the supplied fondueforks.• The grill plates are suited best for cooking beef, pork, lamb and poultry, as well as fish filletsand vegetable or fruit slices. Tougher cuts of meat should be marinated for a few hours or over-night in a marinade with wine or vinegar to help break down the connective tissue. If necessary,remove the bones before cooking.32
