It is bolted to the engineflywheel and has a splined center to drive thepump.How to R emove the Flex Pl ateHow to Remove the Flex Plate1 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the pump assembly for support. Do not lift it.2 Remove all of the pump mounting plate toengine fasteners.3 Carefully pull the pump assembly away fromthe engine and secure it from moving.Component damage hazard.Hoses can be damaged if theyare kinked or pinched.4 Remove the flex plate mounting fasteners.Remove the flex plate from the flywheel.How to Ins tall the Fl ex PlateHow to Install the Flex Plate1 Install the flex plate onto the flywheel with theraised spline away from the flywheel.1 pump2 pump shaft3 pump coupler4 flex plate5 flywheel6 1/32 inch / 0.8 mm gap2 Apply removable Loctite ® thread sealant to theflex plate mounting fasteners. Torque the flexplate mounting fasteners to 36 ft-lbs / 49 Nm.3 Install the coupler onto the pump shaft with theset screw towards the pump. Leave a 1/32inch / 0.8 mm gap between the coupler andpump end plate.4 Apply removable Loctite ® thread sealant to thecoupler set screw. Torque the set screw to65-70 ft-lbs / 88-95 Nm.Component damage hazard. Donot force the drive pump duringinstallation or the flex plate teethmay become damaged.
