22No Task Remarks1 Draw a plan for an IRFfabric with switchesTake the following into consideration:• Number of IRF members and the bandwidth• Interface cards and cables• Physical connection mode( daisy chain connection or ring connection)• Cable connectionFor more information, see Drawing a plan for an IRF fabric.2 Install the IRF membersto the correct positionFor detailed installation procedures, see:• Installing the switch into a 19-inch rack.• Mounting the switch on a workbench.3Connect groundingcables and powercords for the switchesFor more information, see:• Grounding the switch• Connecting the power cords4 Power on the IRFmembers N/A5 Install interface cards For more information, see Installing and removing an interface card.6 Configure software forthe IRF membersFor more information about the IRF function, see H3C S5120-EI SeriesEthernet Switches IRF Configuration Guide.7 Power off the switches N/A8 Connect the cablesUse cables to connect 10 G ports of the interface cards:• The given XFP ports work with XFP optical transceivers and fibers• The given SFP+ ports can work with SFP+ optical transceivers and fibersfor long-haul transmission; or they can be directly connected throughdedicated SFP+ cables for short-haul transmission• The given CX4 ports use dedicated CX4 cables for connection• The given 1/10GBase-T Ethernet ports use Category 6 or latertwisted-pair cables for connectionFor how to connect the cables, see Installing and removing a dedicatedCX4/SFP+ cable.9 Power on the switches Finish establishing an IRF fabricDrawing a plan for an IRF fabricBefore implementing an IRF fabric, draw a plan according to actual conditions of the user network andnetwork devices and take the following points into consideration:Determine the number of IRF members and the bandwidthYou can determine the number of IRF members and the bandwidth according to the network scale. The S5120-EI Switch Series supports aggregation of the 10 GE ports. You can assign the two 10 GE portsof an interface card to an aggregation group to expand the bandwidth for the IRF fabric.NOTE:10 GE ports of different interface cards cannot join the same aggregation group in the IRF fabric. Therefore, 1-port XFP interface cards do not support port aggregation in the IRF fabric.
