These surfaces,in conjunction with the size of the room, the height of the ceiling and otherdesign aspects may cause the arrival ofsurround channel sounds to become dis-connected from front channel sounds. To adjust the delay time press the Delaybutton * on the front panel. The timeshown in the Information Display ¯should be as close as possible to theresult of the following formula or to yourpersonal preference.1. Measure the distance from thelistening/viewing position to the frontspeakers.2. Measure the distance from the listen-ing/viewing position to the surroundspeakers.3. Subtract the distance to the rear speak-ers from the distance to the front speakersand add 15. The resulting number is theideal delay time for your room. For exam-ple, if the front speakers are 10 feet awayand the rear speakers are 5 feet away, theformula will be “10-5+15=20.” Thus, thecorrect delay time in this room would be20 ms.Center Channel ModeThis setting enables you to tailor the out-put of the AVR40 to the type of centerchannel speaker in use.
