OperationRecalling Preset Stations• To manually select a station previouslyentered in the preset memory, press theNumeric Buttons 37 w correspond-ing to the desired station’s location. Toselect the station in location “30,” pressthe 0 button only.• To manually tune through the list ofstored preset stations one by one, pressthe Preset/Disc Skip buttons s onthe remote.• To automatically scan through thestations entered in the preset memory,press the P.Scan button v on theremote. The tuner will run through thelist of preset stations, stopping for fiveseconds at each one. Press the P.Scanbutton again to stop the scan at yourdesired station.Tape RecordingIn normal operation, the audio or videosource selected for listening through theAVR55 is sent to the record outputs.This means that any program you arewatching or listening to may be recordedsimply by placing machines connectedto the outputs for Tape 1 or Tape 2‚ • in the record mode.When a tape recorder with separaterecord and playback heads is used, youmay monitor the output of the recordingby selecting the Tape 1/Monitor input! d. Note that the T • MON indicatorK will illuminate in the front panel dis-play to remind you that you are listeningto the record playback instead of theactual input source being recorded.NOTE: When a Dolby Digital source isplaying, the output may not be recorded.Video RecordingThe AVR55 permits you to make a videorecording from one of the input sourceswhile another source is being listened tothrough the unit’s main amplifiers.To make a video recording, press theVideo 1 Record button & andobserve the indicator dot at the far leftside of the front panel InformationDisplay 35. As you press the Recordbutton, the Video 1 Record indicatorA will change to show which output isbeing sent to the Video 1 Out jacks ›.The output may be either the currentlistening source, or one of the other videoinputs (TV, DVD, Video 2).IMPORTANT NOTE: Please make cer-tain that you are aware of the copyrightrestrictions on any material you copy.Unauthorized duplication of copyrightedmaterials is prohibited by Federal law.Output Level Trim AdjustmentNormal output level adjustment for theAVR55 is established using the Test Tone,as outlined on page 19. In some cases,however, it may be desirable to adjust theoutput levels using program materialsuch as a test disc, or a selection you arefamiliar with.To adjust the output levels using pro-gram material, first set the referencevolume for the front left/right channelsusing the Volume Control ˘ n. Ifyou wish to vary the difference betweenthe left and right channels, use theBalance Control Ù.To change the level for the channels youwish to adjust use the appropriate frontpanel level adjust control for theSubwoofer, Center or Surroundchannels ¸ ˝ 34 .Memory BackupThis product is equipped with a memorybackup system that preserves tuner pre-sets and system configuration informa-tion if the unit is accidentally unpluggedor subject to a power outage. This mem-ory will last for approximately two weeks,after which time all information must bereentered.29
