SYSTEM SETUP 15ENGLISHSystem SetupSystem DefaultsThe final step of the installation is to establishthe system’s defaults. It is helpful to take a fewminutes to familiarize yourself with thesesettings, as they may require change before thefirst use and later from time to time.General Functionality of theOSD MenuThe complete setup and control of the HS 100takes place in an advanced user-guided OnScreen Display (OSD) menu system. The OSD canbe activated by pressing the OSD button 8 onthe remote control. Pressing this button againde-activates the OSD.The main menu consists of a PLAYER Menu,RADIO Menu, TV Menu, AUX Menu, DIGITALMenu and a SET-UP Menu. The PLAYER Menuwill show all information and options availablefor the disc currently playing. The RADIO Menuwill show radio and RDS options. The TV, AUXand DIGITAL Menus show the surround optionsfor these specific audio inputs. The SET-UP Menuwill help you configure all audio and videosettings which are normally only made once.Each Main Menu contains Submenus. Thesesubmenus are shown as icons on the left side ofthe menu. They can be highlighted by a whitesquare around the icon by moving the cursorwith the ARROW 9 buttons. Icons can beactivated by pressing ENTER 6 when an icon ishighlighted. When ENTER 6 has been pressed,the color of the icon will change to dark blue andyou will see that the current settings of thissubmenu will appear on the right side of themenu. Although each Menu has variousSubmenus and Settings, they are all navigated inthe same way. All submenus, settings andoptions can be accessed with the help of theARROW (KLNM 9) and ENTER 6 buttonson the remote control.To change a setting, simply move the cursor tothe setting you wish to change. This setting willbe highlighted in light blue, and a brief explana-tion will appear in the Upper Menu Line on thebottom of your screen, together with theavailable options for this setting on the LowerMenu Line. Move the ARROW M / N 9 buttonsto the requested option for this setting. First, makecertain that the HS Controller is properly connec-ted to a video display, and that power isconnected. For this process, however, you do notneed to load a disc into the unit.During STOP, PAUSE or PLAY mode, if you pressOSD on the remote, the Main Menu appears onthe screen.This Main Menu and all menus in the followingsection may look different, listing the settingswith different languages, depending on thesettings made previously. With the factory defaultsetting all languages are set to ”English”, that´swhy with all menus the English version is shownin the manual.In the SET-UP Menu you will find submenus formaking or changing all settings and adjustmentsfor both Audio and Video handling of yourHS 100.To access the SET-UP Menu, press the OSDbutton 8, and move the cursor to the rightuntil SET-UP is highlighted. Press ENTER 6 toactivate the SYSTEM Settings:System SettingsThe System Setting Submenu contains thefollowing settings. Follow the explanations in theUpper Menu Line on the bottom of your screento change the settings.Display Language: Sets the language in whichthe OSD menus are shown on your screen.Preferred Subtitle Language: Defines yourpreferred subtitle language. Every time a disccontains this subtitle language, it will be shownautomatically. If you do not find your preferredlanguage in the list of options, you can selectyour preferred language by typing a 4-digit codefound in the code list on page 21. You can alsoset the preferred subtitle language to OFF. In thatcase no subtitles will be shown.Panel Time-Out: Sets the time-out interval forthe Front Panel Information Display. After theselected time, the display will dim completely.Status Bar Time-Out: Sets the time-outinterval for the Status Bar, after which the StatusBar will disappear from the screen.Parental Control: Defines a password used tocontrol viewing of restricted programs. Thedefault password is 8888. After pressing thedefault password, either the parental controlsetting can be chosen, or a new password. Thefive standard US rating symbols are ”G”(General, level 1), ”PG” (Parental Guidance, level3), ”PG13” (Parental Guidance and 13 years old,level 4), ”R” (Restricted, level 6) and ”NC 17”(from 17 years old, level 7). The DVD willaccommodate a total of eight rating steps, as setby the DVD creators. These additional steps allowfor more critical control of program playback forall audiences. Level 8: All DVDs can be played.Levels 7 to 2: DVDs for general audiences/children can be played. Level 1: DVDs for childrencan be played; DVDs for adults/general audiencesare prohibited. Follow the explanations on thescreen to set a new password.Disc Setting Memory: When set to on, thenext time a disc is inserted, I will show a “DiscRecognized” message, with the question if youwould like to play the disc from the beginning orwould like to resume from where you laststopped the disc. The memory can contain infor-mation of the last 100 discs played.PBC Support: Activates PBC (Play Back Control)Support for VCD discs.Screen Save: Activates a Screen Saver toprevent image “burn” in a video display device. Ifyou connect the HS Controller to a LCD orplasma screen or video projector, we recommendyou activate the screen saver at all times.Show Angle Icon: Determines whether theAngle Icon will appear on the screen when thereare different angles available on a DVD disc.Audio SettingsThe Audio Setting Submenu contains thefollowing settings. Follow the explanations in theUpper Menu Line on the bottom of your screento change the settings.Preferred Audio Language: Defines yourpreferred audio language. Every time a disc isplayed that contains this audio language, it willbe activated automatically. If you do not findyour preferred language in the list of options, youcan select your preferred language by typing a4-digit code found in the code list on page 21.(B)(A)(C)(E) (D) |
