It is a good ideato keep your sales slip or receipt in a safeplace (along with this manual) so that itwill be available to verify the purchasedate for warranty claims.Input/Output ProtectionUnder some conditions, such as a shortedspeaker wire, DC voltage on an inputconnection or thermal overload, theHarman Kardon PA5800 will place itselfin a “protect” mode to prevent damageto the amplifier. When this happens, thering surrounding the power switch willflash and alternate between red andamber.When this occurs, IMMEDIATELY turn offthe unit using the power switch and cor-rect the problem. Then turn the unitback on. If the unit continues to go intoa protect mode, contact your dealer orinstaller for assistance.PROBLEMAmplifier will not turn on.Amplifier turns on, but no audio fromone or more channels.Audio plays, then cuts off.DIAGONSIS• Power Switch turned off.(No Power Light LED)• Remote trigger cable not properlyconnected.• Inputs not connected toproper jack.• Speakers not connected properly.• Improper settings or output levelsfrom processor or controller.• Amplifier shorted (LED flashesamber).TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS• Turn on Power Switch.• Verify connection of trigger cableat both ends.• Check input connections.• Check speaker connections.• Check the settings on your preamp,processor or controller.• Check speaker connections forshort circuit.Troubleshooting ChartThe items listed below are a brief guide to minor problems that may arise with audio equipment such as the PA5800.
