Usethe Control Panel Power utility for Windows 98 Power Managementsettings.Power Management SupportWhen the Power Management Support parameter is set to Enabled, you canconfigure the different power saving timers to your desired settings. Setting thisparameter to Disabled deactivates the power management feature and all thetimers. The default setting is Enabled.IDE Drive Power Down This parameter allows the hard disk to enter standbymode after inactivity of minutes. When you access the hard disk again, allows3 to 5 seconds (depending on the hard disk) for the system to recover andreturn to normal speed. Set this parameter to Disabled if your hard disk doesnot support this function. The default setting is Enabled.Suspend Time Out This timer allows you to set the period of inactivity (inminutes) before the system ends the suspend state. Use the arrow keys toselect a setting. You can turn this timer to Disabled if you prefer. The defaultsetting is 30 minutes.Startup OptionsFrom the Setup main menu, select Startup Options to view or change start-upconfiguration settings.Quick Boot When set to Enabled, which is the default, this parameter allowsthe system to boot faster by skipping some power on self-test (POST) routines.when set to Enabled, Slient Boot will turn grey and non-configureable.Silent Boot This parameter enables or disables the silent boot function.When set to Enabled, which is the default, BIOS is in graphical mode anddisplays the IBM logo while booting. If an error occurs while booting, thesystem automatically switches to text mode.
