1. Before you begin, read “Safety” on page v and “Installation guidelines” onpage 23.2. Stand the blade server upright on a clean, flat work surface, with the scalabilityconnector facing up.3. Open the lower handle (rotate the lower handles down) to allow the bladeserver to sit flat on the work surface.4. Using the 3/16" hex driver that comes with the 1-node speed burst card, loosenthe nut that attaches the 1-node speed burst card to the blade server.5. Lift the 1-node speed burst card off the blade server.Completing the installationTo complete the installation, complete the following tasks.1. Assemble the scalable blade complex if necessary (see “Assembling a scalableblade complex”).2. Install the IBM MAX5 expansion blade if necessary (see “Installing an IBMMAX5” on page 62).3. Close the blade server cover (see “Installing the blade server cover” on page67).Statement 21CAUTION:Hazardous energy is present when the blade server is connected to the powersource. Always replace the blade server cover before installing the bladeserver.4. Reinstall the blade server into the BladeCenter chassis (see “Installing a bladeserver in a BladeCenter chassis” on page 68).5. Turn on the blade server (see “Turning on the blade server” on page 15). If youhave just connected the power cords of the BladeCenter chassis to electricaloutlets, you must wait until the power LED on the blade server flashes slowlybefore you press the power button.6. For certain optional devices, you might have to run the blade server Setuputility to configure the blade server (see Chapter 4, “Configuring the bladeserver,” on page 71).
