Replacing the batteryIBM has designed this product with your safety in mind. The lithium battery must behandled correctly to avoid possible danger. If you replace the battery, you mustadhere to the following instructions.Note: In the U. S., call 1-800-IBM-4333 for information about battery disposal.If you replace the original lithium battery with a heavy-metal battery or a battery withheavy-metal components, be aware of the following environmental consideration.Batteries and accumulators that contain heavy metals must not be disposed of withnormal domestic waste. They will be taken back free of charge by the manufacturer,distributor, or representative, to be recycled or disposed of in a proper manner.To order replacement batteries, call 1-800-IBM-SERV within the United States, and1-800-465-7999 or 1-800-465-6666 within Canada. Outside the U.S. and Canada,call your IBM authorized reseller or IBM marketing representative.Note: After you replace the battery, the blade server is automatically reconfigured;however, you must reset the system date and time through the operatingsystem that you installed.Statement 2:CAUTION:When replacing the lithium battery, use only IBM Part Number 33F8354 or15F8409 or an equivalent type battery recommended by the manufacturer. Ifyour system has a module containing a lithium battery, replace it only withthe same module type made by the same manufacturer. The battery containslithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of.Do not:v Throw or immerse into waterv Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)v Repair or disassembleDispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.Note: See “Battery return program” on page 66 for more information about batterydisposal.Complete the following steps to replace the battery:1. Read the safety information beginning on page v and “Installation guidelines”on page 21.2. Follow any special handling and installation instructions that come with thebattery.3. If the blade server is operating, shut down the operating system by typing theshutdown -h now command.
