Starting the management and configuration program in theManagement ModuleUse the Management Module Web-based management and configuration programto:v Configure the BladeCenter unit.v Update and configure BladeCenter components.v Monitor the current system status.v Check the event log for system and other errors.Complete the following steps to start the Web-based management and configurationprogram. (For additional information, see the IBM BladeCenter (Type 8677)Planning and Installation Guide.)1. Open a Web browser. In the address or URL field, type the Internet protocol (IP)address or host name that is assigned for the Management Module remoteconnection. The default IP address is:192.168.70.125The Enter Network Password window opens.2. Type your user name and password. Before you log onto the ManagementModule for the first time, contact your system administrator regarding whetheryour organization has assigned a user name and password to you. Use theinitial (default) user name and password the first time that you log onto theManagement Module. If you have an assigned user name and password, usethem for all subsequent logins. All login attempts are documented in the eventlog.The initial user ID and password for the Management Module are:v User ID: USERID (all capital letters)v Password: PASSW0RD (note the number zero, not the letter O, inPASSW0RD)3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Be sure to set the timeoutvalue that you want for your Web session.The BladeCenter management and configuration window opens.Integrating the Gigabit Ethernet controllers into the BladeCenterTwo dual-port Gigabit Ethernet controllers are integrated on the blade server systemboard. Each controller port provides a 1000-Mbps full-duplex interface forconnecting to one of the Ethernet-compatible switch modules in I/O bays 1 and 2,which enables simultaneous transmission and reception of data on the Ethernetlocal area network (LAN).Each Ethernet-controller port on the system board is routed to a different switchmodule in I/O bay 1 or bay 2. The routing from the Ethernet-controller port to theI/O bay varies according to whether an Ethernet adapter is enabled and theoperating system that is installed. See “Blade server Ethernet controllerenumeration” on page 48 for information about how to determine the routing fromthe Ethernet-controller ports to I/O bays for your blade server.Chapter 6.
