Chapter 5. Rack planning 135Cooling considerationsIt is important that the IBM NeXtScale n1200 Enclosure be installed in anenvironment that results in proper cooling. The following rack installationconsiderations are important: The rack must have front (server node side) to back airflow. The rack must have front and rear doors with at least 60% open area forairflow. To allow adequate airflow into and out of the chassis, adhere to therecommended minimum distances to the front and rear doors, as shown inFigure 5-10 on page 132. It is important to prevent hot air recirculation from the back of the rack to thefront. The following points should be considered:– All U spaces must be occupied at the front by a device or a blank fillerpanel.– All other openings should be covered, including air openings around theEIA flanges (rack posts) and cable passage ways.– If multiple racks are arranged in a row, gaps between the rack front EIAflanges must be blocked to prevent hot air recirculation. Seal openings under the front of the racks.5.4.3 Rack optionsThe rack options that are listed in Table 5-8 are available for the IBM EnterpriseV2 Dynamic Racks and other racks.Table 5-8 Rack option part numbersPart number DescriptionMonitor kits and keyboard trays17238BX IBM 1U 18.5-inch Standard Console17238EX IBM 1U 18.5-inch Enhanced Media Console172317X 1U 17-inch Flat Panel Console Kit172319X 1U 19-inch Flat Panel Console KitConsole switches1754D2X IBM Global 4x2x32 Console Manager (GCM32)1754D1X IBM Global 2x2x16 Console Manager (GCM16)
