Replacing a PCI riser-card assemblyUse this information to replace a PCI riser-card assembly.About this taskNote: PCI riser-card brackets must be installed even if you do not install anadapter.To install a PCI riser-card assembly, complete the following steps:Procedure1. Read the safety information that begins on “Safety” on page vii and“Installation guidelines” on page 33.2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.3. Remove the cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 36).4. Check whether there are rubber stoppers come with your PCI riser-cardassembly 2. If there are rubber stoppers come with your PCI riser-cardassembly 2, skip to next step.a. There are two kinds of rubber stoppers. Attach the two rubber stoppers onPCI riser-card assembly 2, along the edges of the pin holes, as shown inthe following illustration.b. Attach the bigger rubber stopper near the latch of PCI riser-card assembly2.c. Attach the smaller rubber stopper near the pin hole of PCI riser-cardassembly 2.Note: You can purchase the miscellaneous parts kit (FRU part number94Y7571) to acquire three sets of rubber stoppers. Keep additional rubberstoppers for potential future use.5. Install the adapter in the new PCI riser-card assembly (see “Replacing anadapter” on page 250).6. Set any jumpers or switches on the adapter as directed by the adaptermanufacturer.7. Remove the PCI filler panel, if one is present, from the rear of the server.8. Align the PCI riser-card assembly with the PCI riser connector on the systemboard; then, press down firmly until the PCI riser-card assembly is seatedcorrectly in the connector on the system board.Figure 142.
