What your server offersThe server uses the following features and technologies:v High-performance graphics controllerThe server comes with an integrated graphics controller. This high-performancecontroller supports high resolutions and includes many performance-enhancingfeatures for your operating-system environment.v System Diagnostics CDThe server comes with an System Diagnostics CD, which you can use todiagnose problems.v IBM DirectorIBM Director is a workgroup-hardware-management tool that you can use tocentrally manage System x and xSeries servers. For more information, see theIBM xSeries Systems Management Web page at http://www.ibm.com/systems/management/, which presents an overview of IBM Systems Management andIBM Director. The server supports level 0 only.v IBM ServerGuide Setup and Installation CDThe ServerGuide™ Setup and Installation provides programs to help you set upthe server and install the operating system. The ServerGuide program detectsinstalled optional hardware devices and provides the correct configurationprograms and device drivers. For more information about the ServerGuide Setupand Installation CD, see “Using the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD” onpage 42.v Integrated network supportThe server comes with an integrated Intel Gigabit Ethernet controller, whichsupports connection to a 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or 1000 Mbps network. For moreinformation, see “Configuring the Intel Gigabit Ethernet controller” on page 45.v Large system-memory capacityThe server supports up to 8 GB of system memory. The memory controllersupports error correcting code (ECC) for up to four industry-standard, 1.8 V,240-pin, double-data-rate 2 (DDR2), PC2-5300 or PC2-6400 unbuffered,synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) dual inline memorymodules (DIMMs).v Redundant connectionThe addition of an optional network interface card (NIC) provides a failovercapability to a redundant Ethernet connection. If a problem occurs with theprimary Ethernet connection, all Ethernet traffic that is associated with theprimary connection is automatically switched to the redundant NIC. If theapplicable device drivers are installed, this switching occurs without data loss andwithout user intervention.Reliability, availability, and serviceabilityThree important server design features are reliability, availability, and serviceability(RAS).
