477 SCAN OPERATION Skip channel settingThe memory skip function speeds up scanning by checkingonly those memory channels not set as skip channels. Setskip channels as follows.q Select a memory channel:➥ Push [M/CALL•PRIO] to select memory mode.➥ Rotate [DIAL] to select the desired channel to be a skipchannel.w Push [SET•LOCK] to enter set mode.• Rotate [DIAL] to select “SET,” if “CALLS” or “MESSAG” is dis-played.e Push [SET•LOCK] or [S.MW•MW] several times until“CHS” appears as shown above.r Rotate [DIAL] to turn the skip function ON or OFF for theselected channel.• “~” appears (CHS-ON); The channel is skipped during scan.• “P ~” appears (CHS-ON); The channel is skipped during scanand the programmed frequency is skipped during VFO scan,such as programmed scan.• “~” disappears (CHS-OF); The channel is scanned duringscan.t Push any key below the display to exit set mode.[z Select a memory channel.➥ Select memory mode by pushing [MR/CALL].➥ Push [YY] or [ZZ] to select the desired channelto be a skip channel.• Direct memory channel selection is also available.x Push [SET B(D-OFF)] to enter set mode.• Push [YY] or [ZZ] to select “SET,” if necessary.c Push [SET B(D-OFF)] or [ENT C(T-OFF)] severaltimes until “CHS” appears as shown at left.v Push [YY] or [ZZ] to set or cancel the skip setting.• See item r at left for skip indicator details.b Push [CLR A(MW)] to exit set mode.SETBThe display shows that mem-ory channel 16 is set as a skipchannel.
