7GENERAL INFORMATIONA JBL Performance Series systeminstallation incorporates one poweramplifier, in addition to the amplifier(s)used to power one or more sub-woofers. If your speaker complementincludes the JBL Performance SeriesPS1400 powered subwoofer module,you may use the amplifier included ineach module. If you are using a pas-sive subwoofer, you will need to supplya subwoofer amplifier. All seven chan-nels on the AVA7 are to be used fordriving the left, center, right, both side,and both rear speakers.Use the simplified connection diagramon page 8 to help you understand howto connect the AVA7 amplifier to a JBLPerformance Series system. This dia-gram is intended to show the signalflow through the system. For moredetail in making these connections,please refer to the owner’s manual forthe AV1 Surround Processor.Connect DIN and audio/video cablesbetween system components, as shownon the following pages. Make sure thaton all power amplifiers the main andstandby power switches are in the Onposition. Operated in this mode, all ofthe components will turn on with onetouch of the power button on the sur-round processor’s remote control.When connecting the source compo-nent (such as a DVD player) to the AV1processor, choose either a coaxial oran optical digital audio connection, butnot both. As a backup, or if analogrecordings might be desired in thefuture, you may also make the left andright analog audio connections.In addition to the audio connections,select one of the following video con-nections, but not more than one: com-posite video, S-video or componentvideo.
