Your JBL Soundgear system will play discsdisplaying the Compact Disc Digital Audio logo. It will also play properly finalized CD-Rdiscs. JBL Soundgear is not able to play CD-RW,DVD, Video CD, computer data discs, or anyother type of disc except CD or CD-R, as notedabove.Basic Operation1. Press the CD Function button .2. Press the CD Open/Close button ‚ toopen the disc compartment.3. Load up to three discs with the labelside up. Each tray is numbered 1, 2 or 3going counterclockwise around thecarousel:Playing one or two discsPlace discs on trays 1 and 2.Playing three discsAfter placing two discs, press theDisc Skip button Ô to rotate thecarousel. Place the next disc in tray 3.To load a 3-in. (8cm) disc, put it inthe inner depression of the tray. Neverplace more than one disc at a time inany of the three tray positions.4. Press the CD Open/Close button ‚ toclose the disc compartment.5. Press the Play (or ›n n on remote control)button c^ to start play.Play begins with the disc located on the left-hand side of the carousel just before closing thedisc compartment, and proceeds counterclock-wise around the carousel (in number order). Alldiscs are played once only.During playback, empty trays are skipped, andJBL Soundgear proceeds counterclockwise tothe next tray. The numbered indicator of anyskipped tray will go out in the display b.The total number of audio tracks available onthe disc being played will be displayed at thetop of the display d. As each track finishesplaying, its corresponding number will go out.When a disc has more than 16 tracks, the“OVER” indicator e will light, and the tracknumber will appear only in the InformationDisplay c.Stopping PlayPress the Stop/Reset button *.PausePress the CD Pause ›n n button ^.To resume play, press the CD Pause ›n n but-ton ^ again, or press the Play buttonc^.Skipping DiscsDuring play or in the Stop mode, press the DiscSkip button Ô to proceed to the next discin order.If the Disc Skip button Ô is pressed whilea disc is playing, JBL Soundgear will skip to thenext disc and start playing it. However, if theDisc Skip button Ô is pressed while theunit is stopped, it will rotate the disc tray to thenext disc, but it will NOT start playing.Direct Disc AccessPress one of the Disc Direct (Disc 1, 2 or 3)buttons to start playing the disc inthat tray. After it plays through that disc, JBLSoundgear will continue to the next disc inorder.Removing DiscsPress the CD Open/Close button ‚ to openthe disc compartment. You can remove twodiscs at a time. To remove the disc in the backtray, press the Disc Skip button Ô torotate the disc carousel.Changing Discs During PlayJBL Soundgear allows you to exchange two ofthe discs in the carousel while the third disc isplaying. Simply open the disc compartment dur-ing play by pressing the CD Open/Close but-ton ‚, and remove or insert discs as describedabove. The disc located on the left side will bethe next disc to be played after you close thedisc compartment. This operation is not avail-able during programmed play.Important Notes• Do not place more than one compact disc inone disc tray at the same time.• If, during CD play, the video image of anearby television is distorted, or if static isheard from a nearby radio, move JBL Soundgearfurther away from the affected device.Searching Within a TrackYou can search for a particular point in a trackduring play by monitoring the high-speed cueingsound, or by observing the CD counter in thedisplay c.Reverse SearchPress and hold the Reverse Search n‹‹ ‹‹button §& and release it at the desiredpoint.Forward SearchPress and hold the Forward Search ›› ››nbutton §( and release it at the desiredpoint.Track SkippingTo return to the beginning of the current track,tap the Reverse Search n‹‹ ‹‹ button§& once.To skip track(s) backward one by one, tap theReverse Search n‹‹ ‹‹ button §&repeatedly.To skip track(s) forward one by one, tap theForward Search ›› ››n button §(repeatedly.REMEMBER – TAP the button §& toCHANGE tracks; but PRESS and HOLD then‹‹ ‹‹ / ›› ››n button §& to searchWITHIN a track.Time DisplayPress the Time button to show the timeremaining on the current disc cq. Pressit again to return to a display of the timeelapsed c.38Do not tilt or move the unit with discsloaded.
