Remove the motor shaft cover on the back of themotor by twisting the hex-head screw with a 90°crescent wrench. (See Figure 7.) The motor shaftwill be exposed.8. Hold the exposed motor shaft with a ½" wrenchand remove the impeller center screw using a No.2 Phillips screwdriver. Turn the left-hand-threadedscrew clockwise to loosen it. See Figure 9.CAUTIONVERY IMPORTANT! Grasp the lower portion ofthe seal (opposite the carbon face) when installingthe seal or it will be damaged.NOTE To assist assembly, only use water or a soapsolution as a lubricant. Any other lubricant willdestroy the seal after a short period of time.NOTE Excercise great care to keep the seal andmating parts clean.2. While holding the motor shaft with a ½" wrench, thread the impeller onto the motor shaft. Hand-tighten the impeller until it is secure. Installthe impeller center screw into the center of theimpeller and tighten, using a No. 2 Phillipsscrewdriver. Do not overtighten. Turn the left-hand-threaded impeller screw counter-clockwiseto tighten it.3. Replace the motor shaft cover by inserting thecover tabs into the slots and rotating the cover 90ºclockwise.4. Replace the diffuser over the impeller, using careto insert alignment pins into the correct holes. Thealignment pins in the diffuser allow the diffuser tobe inserted only one (1) way.Figure 11.
