Page 22 ENGLISH Jandy ® Pro Series, JXi ™ Gas-Fired Pool & Spa Heater | Installation & Operation Manual• Once an operational and correctly sized pressureswitch has been confirmed, set the heater control toeither POOL or SPA. Heater should start.• With your fi ngers, turn the adjustment sprocket veryslowly clockwise until the heater goes off.• Slowly turn the pressure switch adjustment sprocketcounterclockwise one-quarter turn. The heater shouldcome back on. See Figure 11.• Check the adjustment by turning the filter pumpOFF. The burner should shut off immediately. Ifit does not, restart the filter pump and repeat thepreceding step. Check the adjustment again. If youare still unable to successfully set your water pressureswitch please contact your local Jandy distributor orcall technical support at 800.822.7933. Additionalinformation can be found at www.jandy.com.• Return the temperature control to the desiredtemperature.5.4 Check Valve InstallationWhen any equipment is located below the surface of thepool or spa, back-siphoning can occur, which can drawwater backwards through the circulation system. This canbe particularly concerning if chemically treated wateris allowed to flow back into equipment such as heaters,fi lters and pumps. Make sure any chemical feeder orchlorination system outlet lines are downstream of theheater and a positive seal noncorrosive check valveis installed between the sanitation equipment and theheater. Always install a check valve if there is sanitationequipment installed in the system. Do not install anyshutoff valve in the piping between the heater outlet andthe pool.WARNINGA check valve can interfere with the proper operation of certain Suc-tion Vacuum Release System (SVRS) products. To avoid possibleentrapment hazard, serious injury, or death, make sure to review theoperation/owners manual of your particular SVRS product beforeinstalling the check valve.5.5 Pressure Relief Valve InstallationA pressure relief valve (PRV) is recommended in allinstallations, and is mandatory in any installation inwhich the water flow can be restricted between the heateroutlet and the pool/spa. A pressure relief valve mayalso be required by local codes. Be sure to check anyapplicable installation codes in your area to determinewhether a pressure relief valve is required.A pressure relief valve is not supplied with the JXi heater. However, Jandy does offer a PRV Kit # R0336101. Thefollowing instructions are for use with this kit only. Allother equipment installations need to be in accordancewith the manufacturers instructions. The maximum working pressure of this heater is 50psi. Be sure to take into consideration the maximumallowable pressure of the other components in the systemwhen installing a PRV. Any pressure relief valve installedmust comply with provisions of the standard describedin ANSI® Z21.22 for the United Sates or CSA 4.4 inCanada.5.5.1 Install pressure relief valve kit # R0336101• Turn off the electrical power to the heater.• Turn off the main gas supply to the heater.• If the heater has been operating, ensure you allowenough time for remaining water in the heatexchanger to cool down before beginning. It isrecommended that protective gloves be worn duringthe entire procedure.• Make sure the fi lter pump is off and will remain offfor the duration of the installation procedure.• If the heater is below the surface level of the water inthe pool or spa, close all shut-off valves between theheater and the pool.CAUTIONUse Teflon® tape only on the threads of the pipe nipple attachmentto the plastic manifold. Do not use pipe compound or pipe dope onthreads or any part that comes into contact with the plastic manifold. These compounds may damage the manifold over a period of time.a Remove drain plug from manifold and allow allwater to drain from heat exchanger.b Locate the threaded boss on the outlet port of themanifold, and find the dimple at the center.abcDrill Usinga 1/4" BitTIP: Drilling a 1/8" diameter hole firstwill help prevent thread damage.
