11Electrical ConnectionsElectrical connections mustbe made by a qualified electrician incompliance with all relevant codes. Thismachine must be properly grounded to helpprevent electrical shock and possible fatalinjury.General InformationA power plug is not provided with the ModelJWS-25X. You may either connect the properUL/CSA listed plug or “hardwire” the machinedirectly to your electrical panel provided there isa disconnect near the machine for the operator.Consult electrical drawings on page 43 forfurther clarification of wiring setup. This machine must be grounded. Groundingprovides a path of least resistance to help divertcurrent away from the operator in case ofelectrical malfunction.Make sure the voltage of your power supplymatches the specifications on the motor plate ofthe machine.Extension CordsIf an extension cord is necessary, make sure thecord rating is suitable for the amperage listed onthe machine's motor plate. An undersized cordwill cause a drop in line voltage resulting in lossof power and overheating. The chart in Table 1 shows the correct size cordto use based on cord length and motor plateamp rating. If in doubt, use the next heaviergauge. The smaller the gauge number, theheavier the cord.AmpsExtension Cord Length *25feet50feet75feet100feet150feet200feet< 5 16 16 16 14 12 125 to 8 16 16 14 12 10 NR8 to 12 14 14 12 10 NR NR12 to 15 12 12 10 10 NR NR15 to 20 10 10 10 NR NR NR21 to 30 10 NR NR NR NR NR*based on limiting the line voltage drop to 5V at 150% of therated amperes.NR: Not Recommended.Table 1
