51Connect your recorder and the receiver (VCR socket) usinga Scart cable. If you have a S-VHS (S-Video) recorder, fromthe “Installation” menu select the “Signal paths” sub-menuand change the selection (TV Scart VCR) so that the “YC”signal is output at the VCR socket.To record a programme now running, set your recorder torecord. Note that the volume on the receiver is set to fullduring recording (L 20 on the 7-segment display). This isthe only way to obtain the full audio quality on subsequentplayback. Also make sure that you do not perform anyother actions on the receiver during this direct recordingprocess – any on-screen displays would be recorded alongwith the programme.For recording with the timer, refer to the “Timer” section.Playback via your recorder i.e. transmission of the signalfrom the VCR to the TV set, takes place automatically whenthe receiver is operating or in standby. The switching voltagefrom the recorder is detected by the receiver and the VCRsignal is switched through to the TV set. The 7-segmentdisplay shows “VCR”. You can switch to the receiverchannel at any time, even without stopping playback onyour recorder. To do so press the ! button (green). To switchback to the recorder playback, press the ! button (green)twice.The ! button (green) controls the TV switching voltage(pin 8) at the TV Scart socket. The TV switching voltage isactivated when the video signal from the receiver or fromthe recorder is switched to the TV set. During normaloperation, without a recorder, use the ! button (green) toswitch between the receiver channel and an additionalvideo signal to the TV set. This additional video signal tothe TV set might, for example, come from your existing“analogue” antenna, from a cable connection or from aDVD player connected directly to the TV. The display ofvideo signals available on the TV set is dependent on thespecification of your TV set.
