For safety,always resolve any discrepancies or questionsbefore continuing navigation.Always operate the vehicle in a safe manner.Do not become distracted by the navigationsystem while driving, and always be fully awareof all driving conditions. Minimize the amount oftime spent viewing the screen of the navigationsystem while driving, and use voice promptswhen possible.Do not enter destinations, change settings, oraccess any functions requiring prolonged use ofthe navigation system controls while driving. Stopyour vehicle in a safe and legal manner beforeattempting such operations.Keep the system volume at a low enough level tobe able to hear outside noises while driving. If youcan no longer hear outside noises, you may beunable to react adequately to the traffic situation.This may cause accidents.The navigation system will not display the correctcurrent position of the vehicle the first time it isused after purchase, or if the vehicle battery isdisconnected. GPS satellite signals will soon bereceived, however, and the correct position willbe displayed.Be careful of the ambient temperature. Using thenavigation system at extreme temperatures canlead to malfunction or damage. Also note thatthe unit can be damaged by strong vibration, bymetal objects, or by water getting inside the unit.2CAUTIONSFailure to avoid the following potentiallyhazardous situations may result in injury orproperty damage.The navigation system is designed to provide youwith route suggestions. It does not reflect roadclosures or road conditions, weather conditions,or other factors that may affect safety or timingwhile driving.Use the navigation system only as a navigationalaid. Do not attempt to use the navigation systemfor any purpose requiring precise measurement ofdirection, distance, location, or topography.The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operatedby the United States government, which is solelyresponsible for its accuracy and maintenance. Thegovernment system is subject to changes thatcould affect the accuracy and performance of allGPS equipment, including the navigation system.Although the navigation system is a precisionnavigation device, any navigation device can bemisused or misinterpreted and, therefore, becomeunsafe.IMPORTANT INFORMATIONVehicle Battery PreservationThis navigation system can be used when theignition key is turned to ON or ACC. To preservethe battery, however, it should be used with theengine running whenever possible. Using thenavigation system for a long time with the engineswitched off can cause the battery to run down.Map Data InformationOne of the goals of Garmin is to providecustomers with the most complete and accuratecartography that is available to us at a reasonablecost. We use a combination of governmentaland private data sources, which we identifyin product literature and copyright messagesdisplayed to the consumer. Virtually all datasources contain some inaccurate or incompletedata.
