Sinceit is used to remote control a large number of devices, itsscreen shows the information of each device in separatemenus.This Remote Control unit can remote control the deviceswhich are connected to the receiver and identified by theRemote Control unit.In case the Remote Control unit cannot remote control adevice you want to use, check if the device has been regis-tered for identification by the Remote Control unit. Themethod of registering devices in Remote Control unit willbe described later in this chapter.Before you can set up any Remote Control unit item, youneed to install batteries.• The batteries that came with your new Remote Controlunit are intended for you to use for an operation check—they may not last as long as ordinary batteries. We rec-ommend replacing them with alkaline batteries for nor-mal use.To install the batteries:1. Slide down the battery cover as shown by the figure toremove it.2. For theremote control range, refer to page 7 (“Remote controlrange”) in the User’s Guide.When the remote control range reduces or the Low Batteryindicator ( ) will flash in the LCD screen, replace all ofthe four batteries together.To extend the battery life, we suggest that you keep the backlight off except when necessary. For the back light, refer tothe User’s Guide.Resetting the Remote Control UnitThe Remote Control unit can be reset in two waysTo reset the remote without clearing the setups:• Remove the batteries then re-load them again.This resets the Remote Control unit but the speakersetup and device setup remain unchanged.To reset everything and initialize the remote to thefactory condition:1. Remove the batteries.2. While holding the (function up) key and keysimultaneously, load the batteries.3.
