There are three areas ofspeaker setup:• SP Selection• SP Level• SP DistanceThe receiver must be on and speakers must be connectedbefore you can set up speakers.Setting Up SpeakersSpeaker Selection:Press the Music key or Movie key to display the “Menu”.Surround SetUpSub Woofer = OnHome Next01.IR02.Surround03.ContrastHome Enter1. Press the Menu key (LCD function key 2).2. Press the Setup key (LCD function key 2).3. Press the LCD cursor up/down key ( , ) to select“02. Surround”, then press the Enter key (LCD functionkey 2)4. Press the LCD cursor up/down key ( , ) to selectSub Woofer On or Off, then press the Next key (LCDfunction key 2).• If you selected On for the subwoofer, all of the bassbelow 80Hz is removed from all other Normal set-ting speakers in your system and is sent to thesubwoofer in all listening modes. This improves yourspeakers’ power handling and reduces overall distortion.• If you selected Off for the subwoofer, the bass tone isoutput from the front L and R speakers.TunerFM 01ch Auto87.50MHzMenuHome Setup5. When the front (left and right) speaker setting menu(Front) appears, select Front Normal or Large in thesame way as step 4, then press the Next key. (If you setthe subwoofer to Off in step 4, skip this step.)6. When the center speaker setting menu (Center) appears,select Center Normal, Large or Off in the same way asstep 4, then press the Next key. Select Off when no cen-ter speaker is connected. (If you select Normal in step5. “Large” cannot be selected here.)7. When the surround (left and right) speaker setting menu(Surround) appears, select Surround Normal, Largeor Off in the same way as step 4, then press the Nextkey. Select Off when no surround speaker is connected.(If you select Normal in step 5. “Large” cannot be se-lected here)• Select Normal if the speaker is not capable of pro-ducing clean, deep bass energy at output levels thatmatch those produced by a typical poweredsubwoofer. All bass below 80Hz in that channel isremoved from that speaker and is sent to the sub-woofer in all listening modes. Most speakers shouldbe considered Normal. If no subwoofer is connected,that signal is sent to left and right front speakers.• Select Large if the speaker is capable of producingclean, deep bass energy at output levels that matchthose produced by a typical powered subwoofer. Allbass below 80Hz in that channel is left in that speakerin all listening modes. The subwoofer may not out-put audio depending on the input signal, speakersetup and listen mode.
