30 Keysight InfiniiVision 3000 X-Series Oscilloscopes User's Guide1 Getting StartedWhen using the oscilloscope in a bench-top setting, provide at least 2" clearanceat the sides and 4" (100 mm) clearance above and behind the oscilloscope forproper cooling. To power-on theoscilloscope1 Connect the power cord to the rear of the oscilloscope, then to a suitable ACvoltage source. Route the power cord so the oscilloscope's feet and legs do notpinch the cord.Install the instrument so that the detachable power cord is readily identifiableand is easily reached by the operator. The detachable power cord is theinstrument disconnecting device. It disconnects the mains circuits from themains supply before other parts of the instrument. The front panel switch is onlya standby switch and is not a LINE switch. Alternatively, an externally installedswitch or circuit breaker (which is readily identifiable and is easily reached bythe operator) may be used as a disconnecting device.2 The oscilloscope automatically adjusts for input line voltages in the range 100to 240 VAC. The line cord provided is matched to the country of origin.3 Press the power switch. The power switch is located on the lower left corner of the front panel. Theoscilloscope will perform a self-test and will be operational in a few seconds.Connect Probes to the Oscilloscope1 Connect the oscilloscope probe to an oscilloscope channel BNC connector.2 Connect the probe's retractable hook tip to the point of interest on the circuit ordevice under test. Be sure to connect the probe ground lead to a ground pointon the circuit.WARNING Always use a grounded power cord. Do not defeat the power cord ground.
