It is the end user’s responsibilityto determine which set of specifications is applicable to their use of thenetwork analyzer.A network analyzer measurement “system” includes the network analyzer,calibration kit, test cables, and any necessary adapters. The systemverification software is used to verify the system’s conformance to the“system” specifications. A “pass” result demonstrates that the networkanalyzer test cables and adapters perform correctly as a system. It DOES NOTdemonstrate that any one component performs according to its individualspecifications. A change to any part of this measurement system requires are-verification of the system.Instrument specifications specify the network analyzer’s uncorrectedmeasurement port characteristics and its output and input behavior. Theperformance tests are used to verify the mod ule’s conformance to“instrument” specifications.System SpecificationsSystem specifications specify warranted performance of the measurementsystem when making error-corrected measurements using the samecalibration kit and test cables used during the system verifications routine.System specifications are applicable only when the measurement system isused to make error-corrected measurements.The network analyzer’s system specifications are described in the Data Sheet,available online at http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pd f/M9370-90002.pd f.System specifications are expressed in two ways:- residual errors of the measurement system shown as tabular specificationvalues- graphs of measurement uncertainty versus reflection and transmissioncoefficientsSystem specifications are verified in one of the following ways:- Complete the system verification procedure using a certified verification kitand certified calibration kit that will be used for future measurements.- Complete all of the performance tests using a certified calibration kit thatwill be used for future measurements. This alternative verifies both thesystem specifications and the instrument specifications for the networkanalyzer.
