2-12 Keysight M937xA PXIe Service GuideTests, Adjustments, and TroubleshootingPreliminary Checks2-Preliminary ChecksPreliminary checks include the following:- The Operator’s CheckThe Operator’s Check tests the basic functionality of the source, switches, and receivers in the network analyzer.- “The Test Port Cable Checks” on page 2-14The test port cable checks are not required, but are recommended to verifythe performance of the test port cables before performing the verificationtest. The Operator’s CheckThe Operator’s Check is a software driven test that checks the basic operationof the assemblies in all of the measurement port signal paths. By performingthe Operator’s Check, the following are determined:- attenuation ranges of all internal attenuators- calibration of the receivers- frequency response of the receivers- phase lock- noise floor and trace noise- various voltages throughout the network analyzerAccessories Used in the Operator’s CheckMale short(s) or open(s) from a 3.5 mm calibration kit.Performing the Operator’s Check1. On the soft front panel, click Utility > System > Service > Operator’sCheck.2. In the PXI Operator’s Check dialog box (refer to Figure 2-3), underConfigure, click either Prompt for attachment of Short/Open, to pause ateach step in the process to allow moving the short/open to the appropriateport, or Shorts/Opens are attached to ALL ports, to run through the testwithout stopping. Shorts and opens can be mixed on the test ports. In most cases, the short/open is not required since the analyzer test port’sfemale connector acts an “open.” However, if the test fails, confirm thefailure with a short/open attached.Allow the network analyzer to warm up for at least 15 minutes beforeperforming the Operator’s Check.
