LAARS Heating SystemsPage 20Different glycol products may provide varyingdegrees of protection. Glycol products mustbe maintained properly in a heating system, orthey may become ineffective. consult the glycolspecifications, or the glycol manufacturer, forinformation about specific products, maintenanceof solutions, and set up according to your particularconditions. The following manufacturers offer glycols, inhibitors, and anti foamants that are suitablefor use in the MagnaTherm. Please refer to themanufacturers instructions for proper selection andapplication.• Sentinel Performance Solutions Group• Hercules chemical company• Dow chemical companyThe boiler control offers some assistance with freezeprotection, as long as the boiler is energized, andable to fire.1. if the outlet sensor detects less than 45°F, thecontrol energizes the boiler pump.2. if the outlet sensor detects less than 35°F, thecontrol will fire at low rate.3. Once in freeze protect mode, the boiler willremain in that state until the outlet sensor detectsgreater than 50°F.6.4 mGH Suggested Piping SchematicsFigure 7 through Figure 10 show suggested pipingconfigurations for MGH boilers. These diagramsare only meant as guides. All components or pipingrequired by local code must be installed.6.5 Condensate Drain trapA condensate drain trap is included with theMagnaTherm and is designed to drain the boiler ofcondensate. The vent condensate should be drainedthrough a drain tee located in the vent line. This willhelp prevent excessive condensate from entering theboiler condensate trap.connect a 1” PVc pipe between the drainconnection and a floor drain (or condensate pump ifa floor drain is not accessible). The condensate drain must be installed to preventthe accumulation of condensate. when a condensatepump is not used, the tubing must continuouslyslope downward toward the drain with no spiraling.consult local codes for the disposal method.CautionCondensate is mildly acidic (pH=5), andmay harm some floor drains and/or pipes, particularly those that are metal. Ensurethat the drain, drainpipe, and anything thatwill come in contact with the condensatecan withstand the acidity, or neutralizethe condensate before disposal. Damagecaused by failure to install a neutralizerkit or to adequately treat condensate willnot be the manufacturer’s responsibility.
