73The trailer end of this cord is connected to anelectrical box on the trailer, sometimes referred toas a “motor base.” This box connects to circuitbreakers and/or fuses and includes a powerconverter to change the shore power (usually 120volts alternating current) into 12 volts direct current.WARNINGShore power poses a risk of death due toelectrocution.Always use a grounded connection.Never connect to an ungrounded source ofshore power.Never remove the “third prong” from theshore power plug.WARNINGRisk of fire.Connect only to source of correct voltage.Do not overload electrical circuits.Do not use an extension cord to connect toshore power.Replace fuses with like rating.Never use a two-conductor extension cord, or anycord that does not assure appropriate and adequateground continuity. Use a 30-amp RV extension cordwith a maximum length of 25’. Never plug the 120-voltcord into an ungrounded receptacle.POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTERThe power distribution center consists of 120-voltAC, 12-volt DC panels and the power converter. The120-volt AC panel board containing a 30-amp mainbreaker and 15 and 20- amp branch circuit breakers. These breakers interrupt the power if the rated cur-rent is exceeded. If a breaker trips repeatedly, reducethe load on that circuit and have the system checkedby your Lance Trailer Dealer.Switching from 120-volt AC power to 12-volt DCpower is automatic when the power cord is pluggedin or the generator is on. This powers the 12-voltpanel board and the connected circuits are protectedby the installed fuses. Battery charging is automaticwhen using 120-volt AC power. There are two 30 ampATC fuses located in the front of the converter. Thesefuses protect the power converter from accidentalshorting of the power cables at the battery or reversepolarity caused by accidental cross connecting thebattery. Remember BLACK is POSITIVE (+), WHITEis NEGATIVE (-).The power converter has a cooling fan that will run atappropriate times to cool the converter.NOTE: Should the converter shutdown during normaloperation, heat may be the cause. The converter hasa built-in automatic-reset thermal breaker that willreset after a cooling off period. If this occursfrequently, your dealer or qualified personnel shouldcorrect the problem. Be sure not to store items infront of the vent openings.
